ARTEMISIA
Spacious room with double bed, wardrobe and desk. Bright with window overlooking the internal courtyard of the house. Shared bathroom with the other room.

Why did we call it the Artemisia room?
In ancient times, some sprigs of Artemisia (botanical name: Artemisia vulgaris) were hung in the house to ward off demons and bad spirits and popular superstition still passes on the custom of putting some leaves in shoes to relieve tiredness. Its name Artemisia derives from the Greek goddess of hunting Artemis (Diana for the Romans), as it was said that she was the first to discover it herself. In the Middle Ages this herb was widely used in the rudimentary herbal laboratories of monasteries, by virtue of its effectiveness in combating various diseases. It was also cultivated in the Astino Valley by the monks of the monastery.

Why did we call it the Achillea room?
